  • Concrete Finisher and Laborer

    Concrete Finisher/Laborer General Description:


    As a concrete finisher or laborer, you will be responsible for participating in activities pertaining to concrete preparation, placement, installation, finishing, and curing.


    Concrete Laborer Job Responsibilities:


    • Communicate effectively with foreman, team members, and any other personnel influencing your job
    • Be familiar with OSHA and company safety requirements and always ensure adherence to these protocols
    • Pour, spread, and smooth concrete mixtures to match the given specifications
    • Design and set up forms, ensuring all forms are properly constructed
    • Spread, level, and smooth concrete using various hand or power tools and equipment
    • Mold expansion joints and edges as per specifications/instructions
    • Initial daily job report (work order) for any portion of the job that you are responsible for the completion of
    • Clear the worksite of any stones, debris, and equipment before and after work
    • Maintain accurate records of all material and equipment that were used on-site with all records and receipts kept organized by job in “work order traveler”
    • Initial daily job report (work order) daily or per phase of the job
    • Resolve all problems that may affect project quality and completion
    • Participate in all safety training including Toolbox Talks that are to be performed before project commencement
    • Ensure job site is well-maintained and cleaned at the end of the workday with all equipment, material, or personal belongings to be removed from the job site before daily departure
    • Assist in maintenance efforts, prevent abuse of all company equipment, and report misuse/abuse to immediate supervisor
    • Arrive to your assigned job on time, clock into the specific job using the appropriate software, and clock out when you are finished for the day using the appropriate software with starting and ending times varying within departments and job locations
    • Complete any other duties as assigned by foreman or immediate supervisor
  • Concrete Foreman

    Concrete Foreman General Description:


    As a concrete foreman, you will be responsible for the supervision of a team of concrete laborers and finishers. You will be responsible for overseeing all activities pertaining to concrete preparation, placement, installation, finishing, and curing.


    Concrete Foreman Job Responsibilities:


    • Communicate effectively with account manager, team leaders, and crew members to lead the team to success
    • Correctly interpret blueprints, plans, and drawings
    • Divide concrete construction projects into different stages and evaluate how much labor and materials are required for each job stage
    • Consult blueprints, drawings, and plans to ensure that concrete structures are accurately placed and installed
    • Maintain accurate records of all material and equipment that were used on-site with all records and receipts to be kept organized by job in “work order traveler”
    • Initial daily job report (work order) daily or per phase of the job
    • Resolve all problems that may affect project quality and completion
    • Delegate tasks to concrete laborers and provide overall guidance
    • Ensure that formwork and shoring are erected, supported, and dismantled based on engineering designs and drawings
    • Inspect concrete after the formwork and shoring has been removed and instruct concrete laborers on how to correct defects and concrete roughness
    • Participate in and lead “Failure Analysis” reports for continuous growth and improvement and to eliminate any recurring issues and/or sub-standard performance
    • Ensure team is compliant with all OSHA standards and safety specifications with Toolbox Talks topics to be reviewed and signed off before job commencement
    • Ensure job site is well maintained and cleaned at the end of the workday
    • Assist with on-the-job training of on-site concrete personnel
    • Assist in performance evaluations of concrete trade personnel
    • Assist in maintenance efforts, prevent abuse of all company equipment, and report misuse/abuse to immediate supervisor
    • Hold crew accountable for high-quality work standards, attendance, and professionalism and ensure the team is always representing the company through our core values of teamwork, integrity, pride, and quality
    • Arrive to your assigned job on time, clock into the specific job using the appropriate software, and clock out when you are finished for the day using the appropriate software
    • Starting and ending times vary within departments and job locations, and there may be times when it will be your responsibility to ensure that crew members are clocking in and out of the specific job site correctly
    • Routinely interact with clients by way of introduction during project commencement, answering all customer questions and requests, and providing a walk-through during project closeout

     


    As a foreman, you will often be speaking on the company’s behalf. It is of utmost importance that you display professionalism through all your day-to-day interactions. You will be responsible for displaying leadership and ensuring your crews are following your lead in this regard. Customer interactions are the “face of the company” and ultimately play a huge role in the reputation and success of Professional Pavement Services.
